In 1961, the lakefront mansion St. Joseph Villa was purchased originally to provide boys from St. Joseph Orphan Asylum in Milwaukee with outdoor activities. The purchase was made jointly by the Athletic Association in Oconomowoc, WI, and the Ladies' Auxiliary, who had supported the Felician Sisters caring for orphans since 1908.
