In 1937, the Felician Sisters purchased a historic mansion at 25 Augusta Avenue that would serve many purposes: a convent and headquarters for the sisters, a place to teach adult education, and a space to operate a day nursery.

This photo is of children attending St. Stanislaus Nursery in the late 1930s, when it was located within the Felician convent on Augusta Avenue. The nursery was set up in what had been the ballroom of the former Leadlay Mansion. In 1940, a former garage space on the property was used to erect a facility to house the nursery.

The new two-story St. Stanislaus Nursery was ready for occupancy on November 18, 1941. Felician Sisters demolished an old garage behind their Augusta Avenue convent to build this more spacious nursery.
