At the request of Polish-born priest, Rev. Zdislaus Luczycki in 1887, Mother Monica sent three sisters to staff St. Mary's Home, a hospital for residents of Manitowoc, WI, which also served as a home for the elderly and orphan boys. Sister Mary Veronica was the first administrator.

Pictured is the original St. Mary's Home, a three-story structure. It housed the Felician Sisters, elderly women and men, orphaned boys, as well as a chapel and an infirmary for the sisters. Until 1890, it also served as a hospital for Manitowoc residents.
