St. Adalbert - Pittsburgh

Felician Sisters arrived in Pittsburgh, PA, to teach at St. Adalbert School in 1888. The Polish Catholic parish of St. Adalbert was positioned on the south side of the city, in close proximity to steel mills and heavy industry where many immigrants labored. Mother Mary Cajetan Jankiewicz served as principal, and with her as teachers were Sister Mary Margaret Blar and Sister Marianne Pajzderska.
St. Adalbert Church was built in 1889 at 160 S 15th Street in Pittsburgh.
The St. Adalbert Convent was built for the Felician Sisters in 1907.
The Felician Sisters began teaching at St. Adalbert in 1888 and retained their convent and presence in the parish until 2021, for more than 100 years.
