Sister Mary Cabrini Procopio

With nearly 30 years in leadership serving as provincial superior and as provincial council, Sister Mary Cabrini Procopio both engineered a reimagined provincial house and innovated ways to strengthen and enhance the Felician Sisters’ lives in community.

She renovated the Coraopolis provincial house into an ecologically sustainable green building in true Franciscan spirit. She also renovated both St. Joseph Hall, an on-campus residence for elderly and infirm sisters of the province, and St. Adalbert Convent in Pittsburgh. She reimagined provincial infrastructure for the next century, directed new social justice initiatives, and secured the province’s financial footing. In 2006, Sister Cabrini was elected to a six-year term at the Felician Generalate in Rome.

Sister Cabrini will long be remembered for shaping the evolution of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Province in the last decades of the 20th century, as she guided and strengthened the sisters’ community life into the next century.
