These photos are of the Detroit girls' orphanage, Guardian Angel Home. Formerly, the Felician Sisters shared the orphanage facility with their convent, but when they moved their provincial headquarters to Livonia, they committed the entire Detroit facility as a home for girls, introducing the “cottage system” of child care. Guardian Angel Home served as many as 100 girls ages two to eighteen. In 1964, it transitioned to become Angelus Hall.
Orphaned Polish refugees being cared for at the Guardian Angel Home in Detroit, prepared to board the home’s bus for Holly, Michigan, where the Felician Sisters purchased a lakeside summer camp in 1946 that they called Guardian Angel Summer Camp. Today, it is Maryville Retreat Center.
Older girls residing at Guardian Angel Home learned domestic skills, including learning how to operate a sewing machine.
This photo from 1930 is of girls living at the Guardian Angel Home. In the cottage-style orphanage, girls performed domestic tasks, helping them to develop life skills. 
Felician Sisters and girls from the Guardian Angel Home participated in a parade with a float while vacationing at the Guardian Angel Camp in Holly, Michigan. The sisters purchased 240 acres, including Elliott Lake, in 1946, with buildings to accommodate 125 girls for an entire summer.
