Founded in 1923 as a teacher-training school, Dean of Studies Sister Mary Simplicia Kaniecka helped develop the school into a junior college in 1942. In 1964, lay women were admitted. Then Dean Sister Mary Justitia Lawniczak led the effort for the Junior College to become Felician College in 1967, a four-year, accredited, degree-granting college. In 2014, Sister Mary Therese Martin saw the school become a university.
