Sister Ramona Borkowski, Sister Rose Marie Smiglewski, and Sister Mary Loretta Borkowski founded the Felician School for Exceptional Children in 1971. Along with Sister Mary Fabia Wojtach and Sister Mary Gilbert Szaroleta, the school flourished, helping children ages 5 to 12 who are autistic to reach their own potential and develop a sense of dignity and independence.

Sister Mary Loretta Borkowski was the biological sister of Sister Ramona Borkowski. She was a co-educator at the Felician School for Exceptional Children in Lodi, New Jersey, whose aim is to teach children with special needs the skills, attitudes, and behaviors necessary for independent living.
