Blackwell General Hospital

The Felician Sisters of the Lodi, New Jersey province began their healthcare ministry in the rural Southwest, at Blackwell General Hospital in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
The original Blackwell General Hospital building in 1946. Nurses from the small hospital in rural Oklahoma initially sought Felician Sisters to initiate a training program for practical nurses.

On April 5, 1952, Mr. Dave Morgan, an oilman and friend to the Felician Sisters, handed MM Clara Szwarc the deed to 10 acres of land he donated for the new Blackwell Hospital in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
SM Fidelise Ambrosiewicz, administrator of Blackwell General Hospital, directed plans for the new 100-bed facility with a school of nursing and sisters’ residence that opened in 1955.
